The West End String Quartet came together in the fall of 2005 because of their shared passion for chamber music. Since that time the quartet has been entertaining audiences across New England with an exciting and varied repertoire of chamber music.

A joyful excursion celebrating post-Civil War musical innovations to commemorate our nation’s 250th anniversary. Historian, Visiting Scholar and Co-Director of Seminars at the Wasch Center for Retired Faculty Richard Friswell will feature music by Francis Johnson, George Bristow, William Henry Fry, Harry Burleigh, Scott Joplin, Gussie Davis, W. C. Handy, Teresa Carreño, Charles Ives, and Antonin Dvořák; including performances by the West End String Quartet and the Connecticut Vintage Dance Society, baritone Kenneth Overton, and other assisting artists.
